SS-31 Peptide Synopsis

SS-31 can enhance mitochondrial function and produce energy through ATP synthesis. Research studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in decreasing inflammatory cytokines, known to cause oxidative stress and inflammatory conditions like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, and more.

SS-31 (elamipretide), a gentle but powerful peptide that easily penetrates cell and organelle barriers. By stabilizing the enzyme cardiolipin in mitochondria, it is thought to impede the creation of reactive oxygen species and enhance cellular energy production. Acting as a vital component of the electron transport chain, cardiolipin is essential for generating the essential energy needed for cellular functions. 

Cardiolipin dysfunction has been linked in research to the pathophysiology of a variety of illnesses, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, diabetes, heart failure, HIV, cancer, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Cardiolipin is hypothesized to be a significant component of mitochondrial myopathy, a category of neuromuscular illnesses caused by mitochondrial dysfunction. Muscle weakness and exercise intolerance are among the symptoms of mitochondrial myopathy discovered during research studies, which also includes seizures, dementia, and heart failure. SS-31 is the first peptide to be clinically tested & researched as a possible therapy for mitochondrial myopathy.
